The first Cagedbaby' album was released on Southern Fried Records to critical acclaim (the finest beach club record we've ever heard - (Q magazine ****) and resulted in touring the world live and as a DJ extensively initially supporting The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim and Underworld on World tours and playing main stages at most of the major festivals. A highly sought out remixer he has released a staggering 150 remixes to date. Thomas does everything himself in the studio. A self confessed synth and technology addict, vocalist and musician Gandey’s focus is something to inspire.
A follow up to last years ‘Trust Me Ep’ release on Southern Fried Records, Thomas Gandey & Zeb Wayne team up for another slice of super cool deep house. This time the New York city based house label Nervous Records have snapped up this little gem…. also features Thomas Gandey on vocals.
Southern Fried Records continues its ten-year love affair with the highly talented Thomas Gandey, looking to his latest release, the superb ‘Cube EP’…
Thomas Gandey should need little introduction to most. The Bordeaux based live artist, producer and DJ has been a key figure in electronic music for the last decade recording for labels such as Rekids, Get Physical, Saved and of course Southern Fried Records. His skills as a producer have seen him working with artists such as David Byrne, Fatboy Slim and Tracey Thorn, he has collaborated with the likes of Radio Slave, Maxxi Soundsystem and Blond:ish whilst his abilities as a DJ have led to residencies at key events sucha s We Love Space, Razzmatazz and Womb.
At the heart of Thomas Gandey’s musical direction is a passion for House music and it is this passion that is the driving force behind ‘The Cube EP’. The EP kicks off with ‘All I Ever, a wonderfully deep House cut that fuses old school keys with shuffling rhythms and bobbing bass, topped off with subtle pitch shifted vocals for a classic heads down affair. Next up we have ‘The Drum Track (Drum Workout)’ that takes a darker turn with its brilliantly intense electronic drum frenzy meeting some classic jazz elements in an electronic free for all, quality stuff. The penultimate cut comes in the shape of ‘In the Future’, a beautifully emotive and uplifting track that pitches Gandey’s ethereal vocals against a bass driven groove and some hand raising drops. Finally we have ‘San Sebastian’, a deep yet techy and percussive House affair that provides a perfect closing opus to this solid package.
Thomas Gandey’s name has long been synonymous with quality electronic music and this latest offering once again re-affirms his status as one of the most interesting producers around, enjoy!

As part of the Berlin stop of the RBMA World Tour 2011, the Academy paid tribute to the legendary Meistersaal room of the Hansa Studios II. A special night with artists from across the spectrum celebrated the legacy of the big hall by the wall. This live performance comes from Radio Slave, featuring Thomas Gandey, building an immersive set founded on samples from Hansa’s storied past. Matt Edwards usually brings out this alias for his big-room techno excursions, as he crafts all kinds of worlds around the throne of the kick drum. His label Rekids has earned him a reputation as one of techno’s most reliable suppliers of club mayhem, as their regular label night at cult Berlin venue Berghain and other spots around the world can testify.
Cagedbaby is back in 2014 with a highly anticipated new album the follow up to the now cult 'Will See You Now'. Originally discovered and signed by Fatboy Slim after Thomas handed Norman a CD at the Miami Music Conference a decade ago, Cagedbaby has been an staple of the dance scene ever since. Taking a hiatus in 2009 to concentrate on different productions, this is a welcome return to one of the the worlds finest electronica and nu-disco pioneers.
Sat in his ancient well-house studio in deepest France, Cagedbaby or Thomas Gandey to his friends put the finishing touches to the new album that took him 3 years to make. 'I started the album when i was living in Berlin and finished it back at the Ranch in Bordeaux, I wanted to make an album that i could take live again, this is a a one man club show, think Bowie meets Maceo Plex' , Its a unique combination and Thomas certainly has the background to substantiate these claims.
His hot buttered Balearic blue eyed soul, which effortlessly evokes the late 80s acid house meltdown fused with classic 90's bass-lines and his own delicate but twisted vocals has spread musical sunshine all over Glastonbury, rallied the troops in Ibiza; his electronic tales of melodic bliss being the perfect starter for The Chemical Brothers tour; that was him and his merry band making whoopee at Japan's Mount Fuji festival; and if you were lucky enough to have been down under, you might have caught a glimpse of the all-singing, all-dancing 'Baby experience with fellow genre busters LCD Sound System and Soulwax. When i'd spoken to him he'd just finished a 3 week tour of Japan supporting Fatboy Slim in Japan.
Of course, none of that would have been possible without the kaleidoscopic sonic tonic that was Cagedbaby's debut album, Will See You Now, released on Fatboy Slim's Southern Fried imprint - Tom's a Brighton boy, so it makes perfect sense - its playful mix of seductive electro-pop, subtle techno rhythms, laid-back party music and snippets of 80s power chords, made it irresistible to all who stumbled upon it.
Pleasingly, this hot fuss began to grow, stealth-like, as the summer gave way to autumn as by year's end, away from the hyperbolic glare of the vacuous fashion police, Cagedbaby, by sheer force of word-of-mouth was finally beginning to assume his rightful position as the people's new boy wonder of dance. This was confirmed when not only Rough Trade record shop placed Will See You Know in its Top 20 albums of 2005 and Pete Tong discovered its unfettered joys, something that culminated in the Radio One godfather seemingly making it his personal crusade to spread the word being played for 14 weeks in a row on Pete's legendary Friday night slot. Cagedbaby went on to do an essential mix for the show.
So to recap that lifetime: born in Brighton to less than hippy, parents, Tom was torn between the sea and music as a child. His granddad once conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, while his dad ran a fish merchants. He once joked that the only way to reconcile the two family traits would be to transform himself into 'Simon Le Bon.'
Cagedbaby's debut was born in the midst of the British festival season and fathered by Brighton producer Thomas Gandey, no stranger to muddying his feet between dance tent and felafel vendor.
The album's sleeve is graced by two generously bearded - and perhaps chemically refreshed - chaps dressed as vicars and within are other pictures of folk larkin' it up in fields. The festival spirit, then, is infused throughout Will See You Now as Gandey, dizzy with ideas, rattles through a variety of vocal styles and musical guises.
Lush, epic melodies combine with rubbery dance grooves; synthetic violins and Aphex Twin-aping percussion is evident next to a Talking Heads/Underworld nexus; 1980s electro-soul is the base to Disco Biscuit, and the rights to over-using the word "baby" seems to have passed to Gandey now that Luther Vandross has expired. 16 Lovers is redolent of early Prince, Golden Triangle is INXS (when they were trying to sound like Prince) and there are some neck hairs tweaked in the direction of Glastonbury favourites Orbital on Evolution. Cagedbaby has also remixed the likes of Sugarbabes, Grace Jones, Hybrid, Analog People In A Digital World, Editors, Temper Trap, Olly Murs, Tracy Thorn, Empire Of The Sun, Kylie Minogue, Will Young, E'Voke, Ashley Beedle, Orbital, Armand Van Helden, D.Ramirez, Fat Boy Slim, David Bryne, Shirley Bassey, Ocean Colour Scene, Erika Jayne, X-Press 2, Benny Benassi & Shinichi Osawa !
